Nato in Francia, Platnic ha conseguito un Master in Ingegneria Elettrica nel 1994. Ha ottenuto numerosi brevetti ed è autore di numerose pubblicazioni lavorando come ingegnere per oltre un decennio.
Si è trasferito in Israele a 28 anni e nel 2010 si è laureato con lode in Belle Arti presso la Midrasha School of Art, ha ricevuto la borsa di studio Shpilman per l'eccellenza in fotografia ed è stato selezionato da ST-ART, un incubatore per giovani artisti. Tre anni dopo, è entrato a far parte della Gordon Gallery, una delle gallerie più affermate in Israele. Nel 2017, Platnic ha completato il prestigioso programma di Arte e Media "Meisterschüler" dell'Universität der Künste (post-MA) di Berlino. Dal 2019, Platnic è rappresentato da Lara Sedbon a Parigi e poi dalla Ethan Cohen Gallery di New York.
Nel 2022, Michel Platnic è stato insignito del Premio del Ministero della Cultura per le Belle Arti in Israele, a testimonianza del suo significativo contributo al mondo dell'arte. Le sue opere sono state esposte in gallerie, istituzioni e musei in tutto il mondo.
