Ahyoung Ryu is een schilder met een rijke achtergrond in de westerse schilderkunst. Ze put inspiratie uit de artistieke kant van haar moeder en haar academische opleiding in de beeldende kunst. Ze gebruikt delicate, gelaagde verflagen om stralende werken te creëren die hedendaagse romantiek, neopop en oosterse literati-esthetiek combineren, vaak met kinderen in stille verbondenheid met de natuur. Haar kunst reflecteert op onschuld, verloren connecties en de tedere coëxistentie tussen de mens en de natuur. Ryu's schilderijen roepen troost, vrede en een weemoedig verlangen op en nodigen kijkers uit om het kind in zichzelf te herontdekken en de stille schoonheid van eenvoudige, oprechte relaties te omarmen.
