« Mijn onderzoek gaat in de richting van 'parasitair' minimalisme. Ik claim de uitdrukking van een rigoureuze geometrische structuur die wordt bedreigd door het zachte en gevaarlijke spoor van de borstel. »
Oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit het rustige landschap van Zwitserland, begon Patrick Piccinelli aan een verrijkende academische reis die hem naar de prestigieuze universiteiten van ECAL (Universiteit voor Kunst en Design in Lausanne, Zwitserland) bracht, een bolwerk van artistieke genialiteit aan de internationale grens. De gerespecteerde traditie van onberispelijke typografie waar Zwitserland beroemd om is, gecombineerd met de diepgewortelde invloeden van Zwitsers grafisch ontwerp, bekend om zijn sobere, minimalistische en verfijnde esthetiek, vormden een belangrijke leidraad voor Piccinelli's artistieke pad. Zijn palet is stevig geworteld in geometrisch minimalisme, een stilistische weerklank die doet denken aan de illustere "Zürich-beweging". Dit tijdperk van artistieke ijver werd gepionierd door vooraanstaande figuren zoals Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse en Verena Loewenberg, kopstukken die de voorlopers waren van geometrische of geconstrueerde kunst. Zijn werken zijn recentelijk verworven door verzamelaars in de Verenigde Staten, Japan en Europa.
