About this artwork
In this painting, I use vibrant colors and dynamic brushstrokes to bring the vitality and joy of sunflowers to life. The abundance of forms and color nuances invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the warmth of summer and feel the powerful presence of nature. The work fills any room with radiant lightness and positive energy – a visual feast and an emblem of pure, carefree joy.
Michaela Schmid lives and works in the Chiemgau Alps region. A painter, she studied fine arts at the University of Regensburg, where she subsequently taught. Schmid primarily works with acrylic and oil paints. Her sketches, often created outdoors, serve as the starting point for evocative landscapes characterized by abstracted plant forms and dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Travels to southern countries provide her with additional inspiration, allowing her to express a sense of authenticity, vibrancy, exoticism, and longing in her work. In this way, landscapes, plants, and even artifacts acquire a special, almost primal presence.
