About this artwork
The freedom of humanity is not only on land, but also in the air; like those who find joy when they are surrounded by friends and family. Freedom is where we create space for our happiness and pleasure. Dreams can become real when we live them and act upon them.
This painting represents the joy and the fear within what we call freedom: the release of energy without boundaries or obstacles. It reflects the tension between liberation and uncertainty,… where expression becomes both powerful and vulnerable.
Wael Hamadeh, a Lebanese painter, sculptor, and conceptual artist, works with mixed media, wood, driftwood, and reclaimed materials, drawing from his Mediterranean and village heritage. His technique fuses Oriental Surrealism with narrative symbolism, blending detailed, tactile compositions and dreamlike imagery that capture the essence of Lebanese culture and memory. Through his emotionally layered works, he evokes nostalgia, resilience, and hope, inviting viewers to feel the bonds between identity, community, and the enduring spirit of place.
