BENI is a self-taught Swiss painter who developed his skills outside of academic circles, learning through direct experimentation with materials, through mistakes, and through the tireless reworking of what was not yet working. His work oscillates between the coldness of the world and the persistence of life.
At the heart of her work, one theme stands out: lost innocence. Not as a lament, but as a painted reality, the irreducible distance between what one was and what one has become. For BENI, floral motifs are the memory of this lightness. The fragmented faces bear witness to it.
Her work is rooted in what surrounds us and often escapes our notice: light lingering on a facade, the shadow of a fragment of street laden with quiet history, flowers emerging in spring from concrete.
