Motoaki Yoshikawa

Motoaki Yoshikawa graduated from the Department of Architecture, National Institute of Technology, Akashi College.
He holds a national qualification as a Licensed First-class Architect in Japan.

Motoaki Yoshikawa, with a background in architecture and a passion for painting, innovatively uses kanreisha—a loosely woven synthetic mesh—stretched over a wooden frame as his support, applying low-viscosity acrylic paint. His technique allows paint to saturate the mesh, creating countless squares that blur traditional distinctions between figure and ground and emphasize the interplay of emptiness and solidity. His geometric grids pulse with color, evoking a profound tension between structure and spontaneity, and inviting viewers to experience the expressive energy woven into the very fabric of his work.
