IaeL - Anne Istria

IaeL, a self-taught sculptor and ceramist based in the South of France, works mainly with stoneware and earthenware, creating unique works exhibited since 1999. Her organic, minimalist style, influenced by raw materials, mixes fine coils like “earth threads”, finishes on raw earth and superimposed textures.
Sandstone, pushed to its limits, becomes a living skin: cracks, marks and shadows tell of the passage of time and the hand that shaped them.
Working in this way means accepting that matter can break at any moment... and that this is precisely where its strength lies.
His sculptures, oscillating between strength and fragility, balance and imbalance, tell of inner silences and the beauties of imperfection, inviting contemplation and awakening a deep intimate emotion in the viewer.
