Nicole Wiedenbeck

I work full-time as a TV director and have been a freelance artist since my student days. The origins of my photographic work can be found in numerous trips to Namibia and South Africa. I have been traveling to southern Africa regularly since 1997. Fascinated by the desert and solitude in Namibia, I created the series Just Patina in Kolmannskuppe, followed a few years later by another, Just Patina reloaded. Since childhood, I have also been so fascinated by Ali Mitgutsch's picture books that people, especially on beaches, still captivate me today. And not to forget the light of South Africa. This incredibly harsh light, this clarity that gives every contour a sharp edge. I have since moved on to editing and distorting my images and consciously use photomontage. For me, this was the beginning of experimental photography.
