« For me, the painting process itself is a magical interplay of colours and materials that come together on the canvas, mix and merge into something new and unexpected. »
Petra Kirsten, born in 1962 in Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia, has had an eventful life, marked by many changes and new beginnings. Painting always gave her support and hope. Now she finally feels like she has arrived; the mother of three grown children has been living with her husband and dog in a small town in Lower Saxony since 2022.Petra Kirsten's technique in acrylic painting is characterized by intense colors and the use of various spatulas as the main tools. Her pictures are lively and dynamic. Quartz sand, structural paste as well as fabric scraps and paper are incorporated into some of the works of art. The colors are mixed directly on the canvas or on the paper, with layers being covered, painted over and scratched out.Petra Kirsten, a self-taught artist, is proud of where she is today. She has continuously developed her painting style and technique and loves to experiment with colors and constantly find new inspiration. Her paintings have been sold to France, the USA and England
