Tina Mallia

Tina Mallia, painter, photographer and digital artist, trained at Studio d'Arte 46. Her works speak of the artistic metamorphosis of women, who take on a new consciousness. She uses knitting, crochet and embroidery to get closer to the soul of her ancestors, to understand their suffering and restlessness, enclosed in a functional and utilitarian product. This pre-established and conditioning model, this atavistic role of outcast has generated violent internal storms. She retraces this path, immersing herself in the imposed part: pseudo-art, suffering for the lack of individual expression of the women who preceded her. The work ends with the liberating intervention of the contemporary artist, who desecrates the work of the past, transforming it into a poetic object. She becomes a go-between, a medium with the anachronistic work, interacting in synergy, making the evolution, the soul, sacrifice, sweetness, strength and joy of women shine through.
