Trained at the Beaux-Arts de Valenciennes, Yann Kempen is a painter now represented by the Cecile Duffay gallery in Paris. Combining realistic use of acrylic, walnut stain patinas, and glossy varnish on paper that he maroufles onto canvas, he expresses a personal approach to pop art, reinventing the codes of Vanity. His works, imbued with the poetry of wilted flowers and the shadow of passing time, gently and powerfully evoke the inevitability of our own finitude: "VANITY, ALL IS VANITY."
