Yona Roöri

Yona Roöri is a Canadian conceptual artist based in Paris, whose work explores the hidden structural relationships within texts and number sequences. Her signature project, Encoded Expressions, was first initiated as a personal creative outlet in 2003 while she worked professionally in the finance field. What began as a hobby rooted in childhood fascination with numbers gradually evolved into a methodical visual practice centered around the search for pattern, structure, and unseen logic within everyday materials.

Her self-developed system for decoding visual “DNA” from written and numerical sources bypasses traditional symbolic interpretation. Instead, it captures how form emerges from the internal design of the source itself—using position, rhythm, balance, and arrangement as artistic code. The project began with digital prints and has since grown to include installations and mixed media works that reflect both analytical precision and intuitive vision.
