Aasiri's approach to painting has been influenced by her asian heritage from Sri lankan and other asian countries she has lived in. The different types of art and architecture in each asian country that at times create connections between countries and also at times sets apart is reflected in her artwork. She enjoys creating an interplay between recognizable and abstract forms. The familiar and foreign. She is fascinated… with the relationship between architectural symbols and the variety of meanings they contain. These narratives are used as an iteration means with the viewer. Her artworks are a way to share familiar and unfair feelings, decoded through a collage of paint layers, motifs, found objects & text in her native language.

Aasiri Wickremage is an artist with Sri Lankan roots, currently living in Surrey, UK. Drawing inspiration from multiple cultures, landscapes and landmarks - particularly those she has come across throughout her many travels, she composes works that highlight the experience of a landscape: mood, character, lighting and density. She zooms in and out of the actual memory of the landscape to construct new stories, seeking to represent both built and natural environments as an interconnected entity. Her paintings have featured in exhibitions and publications in the UK.
