In this work, I wanted to capture the suspended moment of two jockeys, their backs to us, ready to set off. The mix of ink, acrylic, and pastel on a collage of text from Tattersalls yearling sale magazines evokes the raw energy and tension before the race. The pop and expressionist style infuses the piece with dynamism, revealing both strength and concentration in this seemingly calm moment. An invitation to feel the passion and the anticipation.
