About this artwork
A stroll along the harbor, a marina, a gentle breeze rattling the rigging. Seagulls fly overhead, and I lose myself in the reflections of the boats on the sea. I love harbors, boats, the masts of sailboats reaching for the sky. A promise of adventure, escape, reunions, or discoveries, the harbor beckons me, and it's the regularity of the masts that is so beautiful against the sky, with this collection of boats patiently awaiting departure. The colors… of the reflections on the gently shifting sea—this whole world fascinates and delights me.
Adeline Metro, a globetrotting painter trained in Canada, the USA, and then France, works primarily with acrylics on canvas and watercolor paper. Her expressive technique favors the palette knife, broad strokes, and a limited palette to evoke seascapes bordering on abstraction, where sails, lighthouses, and clean lines intertwine. Through her works layering pale blues and greens, she creates meditative and poetic spaces, offering the viewer a profound sense of peace, freedom, and contemplation in the face of the sea's silent beauty. Her canvases are small sanctuaries of escape and calm, almost a visual silence in our hectic world.
