About this artwork
Which work has been most revolutionary for me lately? It's difficult to choose just one, as each piece is part of a continuous process and brings greater clarity.
In this work I wonder if it was only the shadow that was hiding that which prevented it from shining too brightly.
In my abstract clouds, I first work with dark shadows and then apply lighter glazes. In this case, I used very bright colors which I later partially covered with whites… and pastel tones because I found them too intense.
The work functions as an emotional map: intense emotions and attitudes that we tend to neutralize. Emotions with high social desirability that seek to fit in, self-regulate, and even mask themselves in order to feel and look "better," to avoid standing out.
Interestingly, this concealment is exhausting on a human level, but in the work it creates balance. It is a fertile tension between intense energy and neutrality or tranquility.
Agnès Burguera is a painter with a background in Fine Arts and Psychology, whose work draws on photography and traditional painting techniques. Her style combines figuration and abstraction, employing superimposed layers of paint in pastel and acid tones, where light and shadow engage in a symbolic dialogue. Her cloud paintings function as emotional maps that explore vulnerability, memory, and inner transformation, conveying a profound and immersive atmosphere that invites viewers to connect with their own emotions and those of others.
