This painting tells the story of a woman who refuses to leave her city and country, unlike migratory birds that fly off towards other horizons. She is deeply rooted in her land, like a tree firmly anchored in the ground.
With her hands outstretched towards the sky, she implores nature, she cries out her hope and her distress, asking that the days to come be better. Her gesture is both a prayer and an act of resistance — the burning desire to stay,… to remain at home, without being forced into exile.
