About this artwork

Within this blend of acrylic, and colored pencil, I've captured an expanse of emotions channeling abstract energy, expressionistic freedom, and impressionistic flow, all while embracing a minimalist ethos. The deep blues represent profound introspection, while the yellows whisper of hope. It's an intimate dance of color and form, aimed to evoke and provoke. This artwork was inspired by the vibrant fresh colours of spring with the sense of rebirth fresh growth and potential. Water is the source of all life, so it takes central place.

It is painted on heavy archival paper and is multilayered with many coats of transparent glaze building up a rich surface with lots of texture, light and depth.
It is professionally mounted on synthetic board and framed in a contemporary-look natural wood float frame.

Alethea Eriksson is a South African–Swiss artist based in Baden, Switzerland. Her lyrical expressionist paintings have been presented in both solo and group exhibitions across Switzerland, as well as at art fairs in Britain and Germany.
She describes her abstract landscapes—what she calls “soulscapes”—as a form of visual poetry, expressing the sense of renewal and wellbeing she experiences in nature. Her work explores the mood and energy of landscapes, skies, the sea, and her own garden, while also engaging deeply with color, line, and form.
Inspired by masters such as Monet and Cézanne, alongside Abstract Expressionists like Joan Mitchell and Cy Twombly, Eriksson creates compositions that invite the viewer to feel moved, uplifted, and immersed in a contemplative emotional space.
Alethea Eriksson is a member of the Swiss Association of Women Artists.
