About this artwork
The "Beach Life" series is a very special work of mine. The beautiful motif of a day at the beach is varied and different scenes are depicted. The image carrier is spectacular and unusual. The 7.5 cm thick canvas creates a unique impression of three-dimensionality. On this high-quality, hand-stretched and primed canvas, the motif is illuminated from all sides, even from below and above. Real sand provides structure and pasty oil paint makes the figures…
appear three-dimensional. From every side, the viewer sees a completely different view. Sailors, swimmers, children playing, families, anglers, stand-up paddlers and all other types of sun lovers frolic to enjoy the lightness and joy of this day by the water. This work works in any room and is absolutely unusual both individually and in the series.

Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
