About this artwork
Several standing female figures are drawn on a warm white abstract surface. Many drawings were placed on top of each other, partially blurred or painted over until the composition was complete. The figures stand in different poses while golden rain flows over their bodies. The drawing is partially continued on the side of the stretcher frame. The face of the standing main figure has fine features, but is flooded with gold tones. As different materials…
were used, e.g. acrylic, ink and charcoal, the people have a different presence. The artist uses gold pigments to give the work of art a warm aura and at the same time create a magical glow. The result is a moving and multi-layered image that nevertheless radiates calm. The copper and gold mica pigments give the painting a very elegant shine when light falls on it and it looks spectacular yet restrained in her rooms.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
