About this artwork
The picture shows a brilliantly clear day in spring. A dandelion has blossomed against a brilliant blue sky and is competing with the spring sun for its brightness. Since the artist makes the paint herself, you can still see the pigment particles. Iridescent blue pigments were used in some cases, so that the sky shimmers almost "unearthly". In front of it, the dandelion is in full bloom, but is already turning into a dandelion clock. The blue glazes…
in the background have a crystalline effect. Accents in neon yellow, gold and dark blue create a harmonious play of colors. The contrast between thin glazes and applied patterns is what makes this painting so appealing. The liquid paint partially flows over the edges of the 4 cm wide picture support and makes the painting appear three-dimensional. The sides of the stretcher frame are also painted, so that the work of art also looks good from the side. The viewer feels like they are in the middle of the fresh, cheerful scene.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
