About this artwork
The painting lives from the special lighting mood between light and dark. Several female figures are on an abstract surface in gray, brown and blue tones. They exude grace and relaxation. The left part of the painting is brighter and flooded with light. On the right, the figures look into the starry sky. linen fabric creates a great depth and a very special light. Glittering metal pigments were used to create additional changes with different light incidence. The edges of the canvas are also painted, so that a three-dimensional impression is created from the side. The artist always works directly on the canvas with a model who is actually present. This creates the great liveliness and lightness in her paintings.

Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
