About this artwork
A sculptural still life exploring the quiet beauty of nature through relief, shadow, and texture. A large fig leaf becomes the stage for three fig forms—whole and cut—modelled in volume and carefully integrated into the surface. The work invites the viewer to look closer: delicate leaf veins, subtle imperfections, and soft transitions between matte planes create a calm, tactile landscape.
Built as an interior object rather than a wall piece, the… artwork is constructed on plywood fixed to a stretched frame, giving it both presence and stability. The surface is hand-shaped using clay, putty, and textured paste, then finished in a unified white tone to emphasize form over color—letting natural light do the painting. Depending on the angle and time of day, the relief changes: highlights sharpen, shadows deepen, and the composition becomes almost meditative.
Rooted in a Mediterranean sensibility, the piece carries the atmosphere of Spain and a memory of summer.
"Color is my daylong obsession, joy, and torment." – Claude Monet Alexandra is a young devoted painter based in Vienna, Austria, formerly a student of an art school in Moscow and a participant of numerous youth art exhibitions in Russia. Her style combines both realism and impressionism, capturing nature's essence through landscapes and floral themes with luminous atmospheric qualities. Her work evokes emotions tied to the splendor and tranquility of natural scenes.
