About this artwork
In creating this piece, I was drawn to the vibrant magenta hues and exploring the interplay of shapes. Using watercolor, I created gradient for every circle and then layered geometric forms to evoke a sense of balance. A circle of corrugated foil completes the composition, acting as the final chord in the art work.
Born in 1981 in the USSR, Alexandra Pikunova's journey to art was a path of discovery, perseverance, and transformation. She has background in the areas of engineering, information technology and product design. In 2022, Pikunova relocated to Munich, Germany. The pain of leaving her homeland led to a significant realization - she could no longer continue her work in design as she had before. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her exploration in fine art, where she felt her voice could be expressed more powerfully. Her artistic practice now fuses her long-standing love for architecture with new forms of experimentation. Through her evolving art portfolio, Pikunova seeks to explore new depths of creativity, while drawing on the influences of her diverse background in design and architecture.
