About this artwork
In "Through the Fire," I explore the tension between power, imagination, and circular motion by placing two unicorns on a carousel that appears to be bursting through a burning, energetic atmosphere. The unicorns are not free—they are tethered to the twisted carousel poles, trapped in a recurring cycle that contradicts the mythical freedom they usually embody. It is precisely this paradox that fascinates me.
The fiery orange background clashes… with cool, luminous blues and violets, creating a visual dialogue between heat and calm, chaos and clarity. Through structured brushstrokes and spontaneous, layered markings, I convey a sense of forward movement, even though the path remains circular and limited.
For me, these carousel unicorns symbolize determination in the face of limitations – the inner fire that drives us, the courage to keep going even when life throws us curveballs.
Ali Sedri
(Born in Bonn in 1985, lives in Baden-Württemberg)
Ali Sedri is a contemporary painter of Iranian descent. He was trained for several years by Master Mahmoud Farshchian, one of the most important figures in Persian painting – a period that profoundly shaped his understanding of symbolism, movement, and the emotional power of color.
Sedri studied art in Isfahan and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. His works combine expressive color energy with inner peace and emotional depth. Whether mythological unicorns, carousel animals, or serene human scenes, Sedri explores the balance between dream and reality, freedom and repetition in his painting.
His works have been shown in galleries in Iran and Germany, including the Zaviyeh Art Gallery (Tehran) and the Kowsar Art Gallery (Isfahan).
