About this artwork
This work speaks of rupture as a part of life, of how a structure, even if seemingly solid, is composed of vulnerable parts, fragments that don't always fit together but are essential. It is an abstract representation of the emotional body: divided, contrasted, yet still united by its internal energy.
The large central blue shape—tense, irregular—seems to contain or protect the red fragment, which, more than a shape, behaves like a pulse, a heartbeat,… or a wound that is still alive. This contrast with the golden, reddish, and burgundy planes creates a narrative of tension between what is contained and what erupts.

Alid Gerboles is a self-taught Cuban painter and digital artist with a background in the humanities, who has dedicated over a decade to abstract and symbolic art. He employs mixed media on canvas—acrylic, oil, charcoal, and graphite—fusing gestural expression, texture, layers, and human figures transformed into symbols, representing emotional maps. His style explores fragility and the ancestral in dialogue with the contemporary, using abstraction to address themes of identity, migration, and memory. His works summon introspection and silence, inviting us to confront the origin and resilience of the human spirit.
