About this artwork
Small, 40cm square vibrant textural painting. Turbulence II is one of a series of turbulence paintings. The initial starting point was to explore the movement of breakwater but abstracted by using non-representational colours. As the series progressed it became more about exploring the process. The paint is applied thickly, mostly with a palette knife and the colours are carefully selected to blend and mix directly on the canvas creating a real sense… of movement. The rich texture is balanced with contrasting areas of calm flat paint.
Alison Gilbert, is a seasoned abstract artist with a background in textile design, predominantly using acrylics and a mix of different media. Her rich and vibrant style showcases a fusion of high contrast and subtle color shifts, with layers upon layers of paint intriguingly scraped back revealing a tale of their creation. Intuitively tying memories, emotions, and visual inspirations, her works echo with a delightful blend of joyfulness, peace, and a transformative aura that fills any room.
