About this artwork
Once upon a time there was a woman who wanted nothing more than to satisfy her hunger. She reached for an apple - red, tempting, juicy - and set her teeth to it. But as soon as her mouth touched the fruit, the earth trembled. The sky darkened. Voices rose in the shadows, whispering, judging, mocking.
Her lover turned away from her. His gaze, once full of love, froze to stone. Her heart, shattered like an old legend, was trampled into the earth,… forgotten, laughed at. The world now looked down on her. She was the guilty one. The sinner. The fallen one.
The sewn-on fragments - an eye, a mouth, faces from another time - tell of those who judged them, of looks that followed them, of voices that were never silent. Colors dance around them, wild and untamed, but nothing can close the wound that was once caused by a simple bite.
Because no matter what a woman does, she remains the guilty one. Since the beginning of time.
My art arises from the desire to translate my dream and fantasy world into reality. In my work I deal intensively with the topic of emotional health. We live in a loud and often stressful world in which many people are mentally exhausted and seem to be surrounded by suffering. With my colorful works I want to create a space of healing - an invitation to lose yourself in a positive inner world and draw strength.
My style is somewhere between expressionism and surrealism, and I often focus on portraits. Faces can express strong emotions, and the semi-abstract elements in my work invite you to discover your own meanings. My works are deliberately open to interpretation so that every viewer can explore their own feelings and thoughts in them. My pictures are the expression of emotions, an invitation to come to terms with one's own inner self.
