About this artwork
(continuation of the series of very small works)
The title refers to the terms used by the writer Jean Grenier in his work on Henry Michaux, to talk about what Gilles Deleuze calls the necessary "chaos-germ" in painting.
"A painting that does not include an abyss, that does not pass through this abyss, that does not establish it on the canvas, is not a painting," Gilles Deleuze tells us.
This family of small works shows stages where order and… chaos are in tension; these two actors have been fundamental in my pictorial research for more than thirty years. After the first seven paintings in the series, with these new works the vectors of order confine chaos, but retain its reserve of power and depth.
Altone Mishino is a French painter with international exposure. Mishino studied calligraphy at the Beaux-Arts in Paris an apprenticed in the studio of the painter Olivier Debré. His acrylic on canvas paintings are created in an abstract style using a monochromatic color scheme. Mishino's paintings are minimalist and expressive compositions.
