About this artwork
The figure presents itself frontally, steady, as if called to inhabit a place that existed before her. There is no gesture of welcome or refusal; there is permanence. The gaze is not directed at the viewer: it moves through the space, affirming a consciousness that no longer needs to prove itself.
The body appears sheltered by layers reminiscent of armor, yet they speak not of war but of memory. Protection as inheritance, identity as patient construction.… The braids, the aged metals, the earthy tones situate the protagonist in suspended time, where past and present cease to oppose one another.
The covered hands rest in a stillness that is not rest but contained decision. Here, power is not displayed; it is held.
In this work, the threshold is not an external door. It is interior.
And the guardian does not prevent passage: she verifies that the one who looks is ready to cross.

Ana María Cepoi is a Spanish artist who has held solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium. Her goal is to inspire the viewer to take a closer look at the world around them, to rediscover the beauty and mystery of humanity. She conveys the close connection between emptiness and desire within her art. Cepoi prefers to use oils and acrylics simultaneously in her pieces.
