About this artwork
This painting represents my personal interpretation of Positano – the gem of Italy's Amalfi Coast. Working with acrylics on linen canvas (73 x 54 cm), I wanted to capture that unique atmosphere of the town that cascades dramatically down the mountainside directly into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
I emphasized the vibrant colors characteristic of Positano – warm shades of pink, orange, and red buildings contrast with the intense blue of the sea and mountains… looming on the horizon. I deliberately chose expressive brushstrokes that convey the dynamic quality of Mediterranean light, so unique to this region of Italy.
The stone bridge in the lower part of the painting and the architecture typical of this coastline creates a sense of authenticity. The texture of the linen canvas subtly emerges through the paint, adding depth and naturalness to the image.
Ana Smarz, an accomplished painter, embraces a range of techniques honed through extensive artistic education. Her style is fluid, choosing mediums that best express the thematic heart of each piece, with a predilection for movement and nature. Her works pulsate with raw emotions, inviting viewers to experience the visceral challenges she brilliantly overcomes on canvas.
My works are in private collections in Austria, Poland, USA, France, Germany and Sweden. All my works are signed by Ana
