About this artwork
Two Waters begins as a journey into the convergence of the divine and the human, where fresh and saltwater intertwine as opposing yet complementary forces. I outline the central elements—boats, flowers, and Caribbean faces—each carrying a deep meaning revealed through their interaction. Rather than simply depicting them, I allow them to speak for themselves within the work.
Water, as a sacred setting, unites these worlds in a continuous flow. In… its dance of reflections and shades, I perceive the feminine essence manifesting in every corner of the canvas. The waves carry more than motion; they hold memory. Faces emerge as witnesses to a shared history, while colors unfold in a harmony that evokes nature and spirituality.
Two Waters is more than a pictorial representation—it is an invitation to navigate between realities, explore the depths beyond appearances, and uncover the invisible threads connecting identity, emotion, and time.
Analvis Somoza Jiménez, a graduate of the "San Alejandro" Academy, uses oil painting and techniques such as impasto and glazes in her symbolic expressionism. Her works explore identity, time, and perception, playing with textures and recurring symbolism that foster a dialogue between viewer and image. Through her pieces, she floods the viewer with emotions of an emotional and physical journey, inviting them to discover their own story within the image.
