About this artwork
The human face is like a landscape, there is beauty and ugliness in both, this depends on how one sees it.
These paintings are not portraits of actual persons, but rather a collection of images and emotions that trigger a certain reaction in the artist and the viewer alike.
Each work contains emotion, the emotional involvement of the artist with the tactile application of paint, the colour and textures during the act of creation and his own emotional… reaction to what he has made when completed. The painting then exists and has to stand on its own. Each individual viewer will then have a different reaction and emotional response to the painting
This body of work is a progression from one state to the next, the entire collection being essentially one work of art.
