About this artwork

This painting is my exploration of contrasts: warmth and coolness, light and shadow. I was inspired by a quiet evening indoors, where lush peonies, bathed in the soft glow of a lamp, cast deep shadows with subtle blue undertones. I deliberately intensified this contrast — the honeyed highlights on the petals against the cool azure of the shadows — to create depth and drama.

Every brushstroke is intentional: the blue hues lurking in the folds,… the golden light caressing the velvety petals. I wanted the viewer to feel this tension, as if the peonies exist between day and night, between the visible and the hidden. This isn’t just a still life; it’s a moment of quiet magic, where the ordinary becomes mysterious.
