About this artwork
The painting can currently be seen in a row of four in public spaces of the government of Upper Bavaria.
The artist's works follow the informal, neo-expressive style. They are multi-layered and develop gestural structures and color gradients in numerous work steps and painting processes.
The energies released during the painting process get caught in the picture, become visible as a spatial effect and create a wide variety of moods and feelings… in the viewer.
The images speak to and communicate with the viewer. They paint themselves and find their place for themselves. The pictures are self-explanatory.
« Art is communication. Paintings are like people. Collect those who do you good and surround yourself with them. »
Angelika Michalik is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. Through her artistic practice, she endeavors to transform her energies into imagery, thereby, "holding onto them". Michalik's distinctive abstractions are most often created using pigments, shellac, acrylics, and charcoal on canvas.
