This plein air painting of a cormorant sunning on the rock. It is contemporary impressionism. It is painted in oils on Italian made wood art panels from Zecchi Colour in Florence.
I am particularly fond of this painting. I like the sparkling reflections of the sun on the sea. I used different colors in the pointillism brush strokes on the horizon. A contemporary speed boat races past towards the island of Porquerolles. I was hiking and painting… on the Presqu'ile de Giens.
It is floated in a black frame the total size including the frame is approximately 25 x 35 x 4 cm

Angie Brooksby is an internationally renowned American artist who has lived in Europe since 1988. A recipient of numerous prizes and scholarships, including those awarded by U.S. senators, she holds a BFA in Sculpture from the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art, where she studied under John Shan. Her artistic education continued at S.A.C.I. and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy.
Though classically trained in figurative sculpture and painting, Brooksby has shifted her focus to abstract works inspired by the flora and architecture of the French Riviera. Her paintings aim to capture and radiate light, transforming the wall into an expanded, luminous space. To obtain the most light she uses mixes, classical painting techniques with spray paint, collage and gold leaf.
After 21 years in Tuscany, 15 years in Paris, she is based on the French Riviera.. Her atelier gallery, Nouvelle Galerie Massillon, is located in the historic center of Hyères.
