About this artwork
This series of works is a homage to the earth – to its textures, colors and rhythms.
“Earthsongs” explores the living energy of the earth – the force that nourishes, integrates, and unites.
This work from the series On the Road combines impressions from my journey through the Kingdom of Bhutan, which I was able to experience together with my daughter.
It's an invitation to experience the ancient world of temples, dzongs, and masked dances, while… simultaneously sensing the energy of the young, vibrant capital. In addition to acrylic, the work also incorporates fragments of Buddhist prayer flags, paper with Tibetan script, ink, and pure pigments—materials that weave the country's atmosphere into the picture plane.
Anja Gienger is a freelance artist in Tübingen. She primarily uses acrylics, ink, and oils in her diverse works. Her mostly abstract pieces emerge from free fields of color, multi-layered structures, and experimentation with materials such as earth, pigments, ash, and fabric. She creates vibrant contrasts that reflect moments of change and polarities in life. Her art conveys a deep, moving resonance, invites reflection, and reveals beauty in imperfection, in the interplay of light and shadow. Her work is influenced by her love for Taoist movement arts. She has practiced and taught Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Bagua, and meditation for decades. Since 1998, Anja Gienger has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Germany and abroad. She has been a member of GEDOK Reutlingen since 2026.
