About this artwork
This impressive artwork depicts three bee-eaters – sun-loving birds that thrive in the warmth. In this depiction, they appear almost like phoenixes rising from the embers. I created the background using the acrylic pouring technique (fluid art). Flowing, organic forms in deep dark blue, vibrant red, and earthy orange tones dominate. In stark contrast, the birds are painted with great precision and attention to detail. The delicate feathers, the gleaming…
eyes, and the characteristic colors of these birds, known as bee-eaters, are rendered with sharp clarity. The color palette is highly emotive. The cool blue of the birds stands out vividly against the warm, glowing tones of the background. This beautiful work radiates a blend of natural elegance and wild, abstract energy. It feels modern without losing the beauty of natural forms. Bee-eaters live in my home region of Kaiserstuhl during the summer and migrate to Africa in the winter. Hence the warm background.
