About this artwork
In the oyster, the sea gathers in miniature. The water shimmers in many layers of mother-of-pearl, and it is precisely these layers that pose a painterly challenge for me. The structure of the scaling is also incomparable. The soft body behind the solid armor-like shell reflects an important contrast in our lives. That's why I gave the oyster a big stage. The picture belongs to a series about the fantastic world in the sea.
