About this artwork
This child reaching for the crown/divinity is a very personal work from this artist. The symbols are POP in origin but all carry deeper meanings. The graffiti / street art approach mirrors the transitory nature of things. The cat is the totem or personal guardian of the artist. The red shoes relate to her second name: Dorothy and thereby to Wizard of Oz. This is a work representing spiritual growth and the acceptance of all that has been.

Ann Gadd, an award-winning South African painter, has exhibited nationally and in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Italy.
