Once, it was love, significance, desire.
The wave receded, dissolved into time, and on the shore there remained only its breath — light, almost weightless, barely recognizable.
Not pain, not passion, but a quiet memory of what had been lived through: a fragile trace in which one can still sense the warmth of something that was once important.
Anna Kormilitsina is a sculptor of Russian origin who works primarily with wood, but also with stone, leather, and unusual materials such as insects, bone, and fur. She uses carving, sanding, assembly, and varnishing techniques to create works that are both lyrical and epic, blending grotesque surrealism with symbolic metamorphosis. Her singular and unsettling art expresses the full intensity of inner life, oscillating between the wondrous and the unsettling.
