About this artwork
"There are no borders. Neither for thoughts nor feelings. It is fear that always sets limits." Ingmar Bergman
We all know them, the motivational sayings on the sugar bags. And complainers like to turn their noses up at it. But yes, we can all achieve much more than we perhaps realize. If we didn't constantly limit ourselves by not believing in it or in ourselves, so much more would be possible. This picture is one that received a completely new… coat of paint after many hours of work. Craziness? Yes, perhaps. And there was also fear of one's own courage. But the result has a depth that simply wouldn't exist if the artist had given up after the first attempt...
In her Zurich studio, Anna Maier gives free rein to her creativity. Here, she stretches high-quality linen canvas onto round wooden frames. She then applies countless layers in her own distinctive style. Maier's stylistic signature is concise and unmistakable.
The interplay of shapes and colors invites viewers to linger. With each change of perspective, the painting also transforms. Its complexity creates a kind of pull, as if one could dive into the circular frame.
Anna Maier has been painting and exhibiting for over 20 years. Since 2020, she has been a full-time artist and has sold over 100 paintings during this time.
