I admire the human capacity to organize and develop living and working conditions within a social, economic, and cultural network across different societies. Our successes are surprising—our failures, on the other hand, are shocking. It is sad to acknowledge that even a highly developed society cannot guarantee peace or freedom for all.
I neither understand… the willingness to use violence to enforce different interests, nor can I explain why generally accepted moral guidelines are so easily abandoned.
