This seemingly very simple painting - dark colors surrounding a large gold leaf placed in the center - is symbolic in every respect; it is up to each individual to discover its deep and personal meaning.
For me, this painting, painted almost 20 years ago, has long translated the "end" of something: the end of an era, the end of suffering, and it was called "Ocaso" in Spanish,… a kind of "Twilight of the Soul".
And then as time went on I looked at it differently, I saw a great dominant light in the midst of the silence of its environment, and I understood what the strength and overwhelming power of Silence in life was.
They say silence is golden...
