About this artwork
“Anhelo” – longing. Under this title, a small series of oil paintings on cardboard was created in Spain in 2011/12, finely framed and imbued with the special atmosphere of the place that surrounded me at the time. My works are always deeply connected to their place of origin: the colors speak for me, carrying within them the landscape, the light, and the mood of the moment. In “Anhelo,” longing becomes color – a sensitive echo of the surroundings…
in which each painting emerged as a silent expression of inner movement.

Annette Goessel is a painter with international training based in Vienna. She works with oil on canvas and aluminum composite panels, her style influenced by interdisciplinary thinking and travels around the world. In series of works, she develops atmospherically dense, technically sophisticated pieces that exist between abstraction, figuration, and installation through serial, experimental processes and wafer-thin layers of paint. Her art radiates freedom, intensity, and emotional depth, inviting contemplation and wonder.
