About this artwork
I wanted to show modern man reflecting in front of the cave paintings. The animals of that time are engraved in the stone against an earth-colored background. The orange daylight passes over the man's back and the few women in their natural state. In this work, I mixed the abstract and the figurative to capture a deep emotional tension. The rough texture and powerful contrasts, rendered by acrylic and resin, evoke an inner struggle, a silhouette… that is both vulnerable and strong. I want this painting to bring an intense, almost palpable energy to your space, a call to explore buried emotions.
Annie-France Giroud primarily expresses herself through acrylic paint and resin, drawing on her training at the EPP in Paris and a career in fashion and advertising. Her technique blends abstract overlays, engravings of human figures, and textural effects created with palette knives, brushes, and other tools, inspired by cave paintings, the sea, and African and Arabic motifs. Her work, poised between abstraction and figuration, conveys the vital energy of natural elements and a profound admiration for universal beauty.
