About this artwork
This work is inspired by the song "My Mother's Savage Daughter" by Karen L. Kahan and Wyndreth Berginsdottir, circa 1990. (Karen L. Unrein (Kahan))
For me, the wild daughter represents a reminder of the women who have come before her in a family. She embodies their courage, their knowledge, their wisdom, their gentleness, their fighting spirit, and their steadfastness in the flow of time. All these energies are stored within the women of today and… long to be rediscovered and expressed through us.
We claim our places with competence, peacefulness, and perseverance.
I used a friend as my model; she lives out her purpose and work on an alpine pasture in the Styrian mountains. She is a shaman and a chambermaid. In her, the wisdom of the past and the challenges of the present unite to create a true joy in life.
