About this artwork
The flame
The flame speaks the true language of the savanna tree. During the dry season, when water is scarce, forest fires threaten. Due to progressive climate change, the savanna is almost constantly ablaze.
When the fire comes and sweeps everything away, the world of trees and plants seems lost – hopeless and silent. But with the first rain, nature awakens to new life. The plants sprout fresh leaves, soon followed by blossoms and fruit. Animals,… bees, and birds return and feed on this newly born abundance.
Hardly anyone would believe that this landscape was ablaze just a few months ago – that the plants gave their lives to bring forth new life.
“The Flame” is a work that reflects the difficult moments of life – and at the same time shows that even from destruction beauty and new light can emerge.
A painter by passion, Anthony Agbovi communicates through the ethereal medium of art, informed by his deep cultural and societal roots. His technique meticulously utilizes acrylics on canvas, transforming thought-induced images into tangible interpretations. Each stroke exposes our social, political, and environmental challenges - a testimony of past, present, and anticipated futures.
