About this artwork
This piece captures a kind of exhaustion that isn’t always visible, but that builds up like dust: silent, constant, inevitable. "Undone" does not depict a sudden crisis, but rather the prolonged effect of continuous effort—of internal processes that consume more energy than we care to admit.
The figure is shown in a posture of restraint and gentle surrender, like someone who has held too much for too long. The body, rendered in pencil through delicate… layers, reflects the mark left by suppressed emotions and the pressure of always having to measure up.
Fiscutean, a self-taught artist from Romania, utilizes graphite on paper to make her artistic mark. Meticulously swaying between naturalism and abstraction, her technique involves slow-building, soft, layered textures that impart a sense of intense detail along with unspoken ambiguity. By primarily portraying fragmented parts of the body, her work elicits raw emotions, embodying solitude, memory, and the undercurrent of silent stories our bodies carry.
